No one except Lena owned an instrument, and the others had not even thought of even trying to play an instrument until then. But Lena’s enthusiasm was contagious… It was just a matter of arranging the instruments needed to form a band. Once the instruments were acquired, it was just a matter of starting from scratch.

Lena could already play when the rest of the gang struggled and tried to get notes on their instruments. After months of toil, they finally put together something resembling a coherent piece of music. The song was given the modest name “Svensktoppettan”. Nobody wanted to sing, so their music had to be instrumental. Their first rehearsal space was in the cottage at Lena’s house, then they moved over to the garage.

The neighbors complained and thought it sounded loud, and they probably had a hard time enjoying EKIPAGE’s beautiful tones. The band had to look for another place to practice.

They came to scratch in CYK’s canteen, Kaskad and in Bredviken

The band’s music was full of passion and had many exciting changes of pitch and tempo. Their first gig was in the auditorium at Manhemsskolan. They then appeared at many local music events in Kalix as well as an occasional gig in Luleå.

Their biggest success was when their music could be heard on the nationwide radio program “Bandet går”

The band stopped playing when Peter met Tomas Jakobsson and together they formed the band WILDLIW. Kurt-Eric then came to be there as well.

Micael stopped playing completely, Lena continued to play for house needs. The recordings that can be listened to here were recorded live in front of an audience at Kaskad in Kalix.

Over time, one of Ekipage’s old song ideas became a duet with Charlotte Perrelli and Magnus Carlsson. Ekipage’s instrumental theme became the verse of their duet, but now with lyrics. Due to certain circumstances, the song was not released. So this short demo is a unique recording with Charlotte and Magnus, which has never been heard before.
